Job summary

Serco is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design of ship electrical systems at our Arlington, VA location. You'll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver compliant, high-performance maritime solutions for Navy and commercial clients.

Requirements include a DoD Secret clearance, US citizenship, a bachelor’s in electrical/marine engineering, and 10+ years in marine electrical design, with PLC, MATLAB, and Simulink proficiency.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship Required.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in marine electrical design and related systems.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering design principles.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and specification of marine electrical systems (power, switchboards, propulsion, automation).
• Produce and review electrical design documentation (SLDs, schematics, load analyses).
• Provide project cost and schedule estimates.
• Ensure compliance with marine/offshore standards (IEC, IEEE, DNV, ABS, LR).
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with other disciplines.
• Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, and classification societies.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks; travel ~10%.
• Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies.
