Serco Inc. in Arlington, VA seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to design and deliver marine electrical systems for naval and commercial customers.

You will lead from concept through construction, ensuring system performance, safety, and regulatory compliance while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams. The role requires 10+ years in marine electrical design, a Bachelor's in Electrical or Marine Engineering, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in the design of marine electrical systems with a professional engineering firm, shipyard, or marine electrical contractor.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles.
• Experience with MS Office, MATLAB, Simulink, and PLC programming.
• Ability to interpret drawings and regulations (46 CFR, ABS, SOLAS, IEEE, IEC, NEC).
• Experience writing requirements and drafting SOW/Technical Instructions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and specification of marine electrical systems from concept through construction, including power generation and distribution, switchboards, transformers, UPS, and propulsion/controls.
• Produce and review electrical design documentation (single-line diagrams, schematics, load analyses, cable schedules, equipment specifications).
• Provide project cost and schedule estimates.
• Ensure compliance with marine and offshore standards and class rules (IEC, IEEE, DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s).
• Support project execution through FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with mechanical, naval architecture, and software teams.
• Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, and classification societies.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks; travel as needed for shipchecks and design reviews.
