Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Maritime Engineering Operation in Arlington, VA, supporting naval programs and marine system design.

The role requires a BS in electrical or marine engineering, 10+ years in marine electrical design, DoD clearance eligibility, and strong knowledge of standards such as IEC/IEEE/ABS. You will lead multi-disciplinary design efforts and interface with customers and shipyards.

Qualifications

• DoD Secret clearance eligibility or ability to obtain it
• U.S. citizenship is required
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, marine engineering or related field
• 10+ years in marine electrical systems design with PE or equivalent
• Knowledge of electrical drawings, distribution systems, and control systems
• Proficiency with MS Office, MATLAB/Simulink, and PLC programming
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, ABS, SOLAS rules and classification society standards

Responsibilities

• Lead design and specification of marine electrical systems from concept through construction
• Produce and review single-line diagrams, schematics, load analyses and cable schedules
• Provide project cost and schedule estimates
• Ensure compliance with marine standards and class rules (IEC, IEEE, DNV, ABS)
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
• Collaborate with mechanical, naval architecture, and software teams
• Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, and classification societies
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle
• Travel occasionally for shipchecks and design reviews
• Prioritize health, safety, and environmental considerations
