Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking a Mid-Naval Architect with hydrodynamics expertise to guide ship design, performance analysis, and optimization for Navy and commercial projects.

The role emphasizes expert-level CFD analyses, collaboration across disciplines, and ensuring regulatory compliance. An active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain is required, with 3+ years in naval architecture and a strong command of hydrodynamics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture; marine engineering acceptable with experience.
• 3+ years of professional naval architecture experience.
• Experience with hydrodynamics including resistance, propulsion, seakeeping, and maneuvering analyses.
• Experience with Navy ship design and hull-form optimization.
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain quickly.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on hydrodynamics, vessel performance, and ship design per standards.
• Analyze complex problems, conduct CFD analyses, and review design concepts.
• Perform hydrodynamic simulations using CFD tools and hydrodynamic performance models.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hydrodynamic principles into overall ship design.
• Recommend hull form and propulsion optimizations to maximize performance and efficiency.
• Review calculations and reports for regulatory compliance and industry standards.
• Interface with Navy and commercial customers to address complex challenges.
• Mentor junior engineers and potentially lead large teams.
