Job summary

Sayres seeks an experienced Naval Architect (Hull, Hydrodynamics, Weights, Stability) with an active SECRET clearance for our Washington, DC office; on-site 2 days/week with travel to Mobile, AL. The Naval Architect will support the PMS 300/325 Ship Design Management team as SME, handling studies through construction and in-service support for various ships.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or Ocean Engineering with 7+ years' ship design experience, intact/damage

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering or Ocean Engineering; 7+ years shipbuilding/design experience.
Experience with intact and damage stability and trim sensitivity calculations.
Experience with automated engineering software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, ShipConstructor, Rhino3D, GHS, CargoMAX, AdobePro.
Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills.
Superior organizational skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

Provide SME engineering support for concept studies, feasibility studies, and design activities.
Perform critical design reviews of industry contract deliverables (specs, drawings, calculations).
Develop corrective design comments to meet Government specs and requirements.
Develop technical resolutions to engineering problems in Navy ship production.
Provide HM&E technical assessments and advise on equipment/design issues.
Supervise and train junior SDM engineers.
