Job summary

Kleinfelder in Illinois is seeking a full-time Civil / Municipal Engineer to work with local communities on civil, municipal, and environmental projects. The role involves collaboration with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, and office staff to deliver integrated designs.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering, may have 10 years of design experience, and should be able to obtain an Illinois PE license within one year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years of civil engineering design experience preferred.
• Illinois PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.
• Previous roadway, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water distribution design experience desired.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specifications, construction schedules, permits, and cost estimates for public works projects.
• Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing projects within budget and on schedule.
• Client contact including attendance at board or council meetings.
