Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a full-time Civil / Municipal Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering civil, municipal, and environmental projects for local communities. Work alongside CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, and office staff to support design and project execution.

The role emphasizes detailed reports, plans, schedules, cost estimates, and strong client communication within a collaborative environment that values growth and inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of civil engineering design experience.
• Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Experience with roadway, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water distribution design.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specifications, construction schedules, permits, and cost/quantity estimates for public works projects.
• Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing projects within budget and on schedule.
• Client contact including attendance at board or council meetings.
