Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Transportation Engineer to lead complete streets and multimodal projects from concept through construction, applying strong PS&E delivery and advanced Civil 3D skills to create safe, connected streets.

The role requires designing with safety and accessibility in mind, coordinating with planners, landscape architects, and public agencies, and delivering build-ready construction documents in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
7+ years of transportation engineering experience, preferably with complete streets and multimodal projects.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required based on project location and scope.

Responsibilities

Develop PS&E packages for multimodal and complete streets projects, including plan/profile sheets, details, signing & striping, ADA ramps, utilities and traffic control plans.
Perform hands-on design using AutoCAD Civil 3D (corridors, alignments, surfaces, pipe networks, grading).
Deliver model-based designs, manage sheet sets, and support QA/QC and agency reviews.
Prepare engineer’s cost estimates (OPCC & PS&E-level) and project specifications.
Apply AASHTO, NACTO, DOT and municipal standards and adapt to new criteria.
