Job summary

Fernwood Communities is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations at Lake Meadows Apartments in Chicago. This hands-on role oversees building systems, grounds, and safety while delivering a high-quality living environment for residents.

You will manage the onsite team, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, supervise apartment turns, and work with vendors to ensure timely, compliant work in a fast-paced multifamily setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of five years of multifamily, residential, commercial, or facilities maintenance management experience.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and determine repair solutions.
• Experience coordinating apartment turns, preventive maintenance, contractors, and emergency service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance operations for Lake Meadows community.
• Assign, prioritize, and monitor service requests, preventive maintenance, inspections, and apartment-turn activities.
• Ensure resident work orders are completed accurately, professionally, and within established response-time expectations.
• Inspect completed work to confirm quality and compliance with Fernwood standards.
• Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repairs when needed.
• Maintain community buildings, grounds, equipment, and building systems in safe, operable condition.
• Respond to maintenance emergencies and participate in on-call rotation.
