Job summary

Bowman Williams is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Level 3) for a hybrid role in the Chicago area. The engineer will serve as a senior escalation resource, lead infrastructure upgrades, and work directly with clients to modernize IT environments.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in MSP settings, strong Windows Server and 365 skills, virtualization experience, and the ability to manage multiple client projects with minimal supervision. Hybrid/work-from-home with local client travel is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years IT experience in MSP/multi-client environments.
• 2+ years handling senior-level escalations.
• Strong Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy skills.
• Experience with Hyper‑V and/or VMware virtualization.
• Proficient Microsoft 365 administration and tenant migrations.
• Familiarity with security policies and endpoint management.
• Solid networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPNs).
• Experience leading infrastructure upgrades and migrations.
• Ability to document technical work clearly.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior escalation resource for complex issues across multiple MSP clients.
• Troubleshoot and administer Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization.
• Diagnose server, hypervisor, storage, backup, and DR problems.
• Design and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including VPNs and wireless.
• Lead technical execution of upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects.
• Deploy and configure cloud services like Microsoft 365 and Azure.
• Collaborate with project managers and service desk staff on delivery.
• Maintain accurate documentation and project records.
