Job summary

Constructive Loans, LLC is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to evaluate and decide on complex loan transactions. The role focuses on creditworthiness, collateral risk, and adherence to underwriting guidelines for investment-quality mortgages.

The position partners with sales and operations, mortgage originators, processors and closers to qualify loans, clear closings and support escalation handling. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years' mortgage underwriting experience.
• 5+ years' customer service experience.
• Experience underwriting complex mortgage, residential investment or property financing loan transactions.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and analyze complex loan applications to determine borrower creditworthiness.
• Assess property values, collateral risks and risk factors per guidelines.
• Ensure mortgages are investment quality for sale to secondary market conduits.
• Make informed loan decisions including conditions, escalations or denials.
• Produce detailed Credit Memorandums addressed to the Loan Approval and Credit Committee.
• Partner with mortgage originators and processors to decision mortgage applications, including complex scenarios.
• Collaborate with processors and closers to clear closing conditions and resolve underwriting matters.
• Explain underwriting actions clearly to stakeholders with sound rationale.
