Job summary

CapCenter, headquartered near Richmond, VA, seeks a Senior Mortgage Accountant to join our accounting team. You will oversee the full mortgage accounting cycle, ensure GAAP compliance, and deliver accurate financial reporting to support strategic decision-making.

You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with servicing and secondary markets, and drive process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency in a high-volume lending environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mortgage loan originations, sales, securitizations, and servicing accounting.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Manage MSRs fair value analysis and impairment testing.
• Ensure GAAP and mortgage regulations compliance.
• Collaborate with secondary markets and servicing teams on loan-level data.
• Support month-end closes and variance analysis.
• Assist audits and respond to inquiries.
• Identify improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Mentor junior accounting staff with mortgage accounting guidance.
