Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Senior ML Software Engineer for the Economy ML team in San Mateo, CA. You will build the training infrastructure, serve models powering ranking, personalization, and pricing across Roblox’s surfaces, ensuring scalable, low-latency deployments.

You will collaborate with ML engineers, platform teams, product managers, and data scientists to optimize training, inference, and cost while maintaining reliability and observability in production.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years building ML infrastructure or ML-backed production services at high scale.
• Experience with production-grade ML training and serving.
• Proficient in Python and at least one other backend language.
• Hands-on experience training and serving deep learning models in production with PyTorch.
• Experience building batch and streaming data pipelines and feature stores (e.g., Spark, Flink, Kafka).
• You build systems that are easy to debug and operate, and you take ownership of production health, from monitoring and alerting to incident response.
• BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the training infrastructure behind Economy ML’s ranking, recommendation, and pricing models.
• Co-design models and systems with ML engineers to optimize training and inference for GPU utilization and latency.
• Design and build backend services and APIs that bring model predictions into Roblox’s marketplaces and payments.
• Build and scale batch and real-time data pipelines feeding training and serving.
• Own the path from trained model to production serving, including deployment and A/B experiments.
• Make systems reliable and observable with logging, monitoring, and on-call practices.
• Collaborate with central ML platform and data infrastructure teams to adopt shared infrastructure.
• Mentor engineers through reviews to raise the technical bar across the Economy team.
