Job summary

People Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer 1 to join our AI/ML Engineering Platform team in a hybrid role across multiple cities with the option to work remotely up to two days per week.

You will design and build scalable backend systems and ML pipelines, manage data processing, feature generation, and model serving, while collaborating with data scientists and platform teams to deliver ML-driven features.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building scalable backend systems and services.
• 5+ years developing software with Python, Node.js, and TypeScript.
• Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, and ML systems.
• Familiarity with Git, Bitbucket, Grafana, Kibana, and APM.
• Clouds like AWS and GCP; Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Knowledge of RESTful and GraphQL APIs; OAuth/JWT security.
• Strong communication and data-driven problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable systems and ML pipelines with Vertex AI for training, evaluation and deployment.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines for feature generation, model training and analytics.
• Implement model serving using KServe and APIs with FastAPI for low latency inference.
• Build observability and monitor model performance, drift, failures, and data quality.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and platform teams.
• Investigate production issues, improve reliability and performance.
• Document pipelines, models, APIs, and operations.
• Create internal tools and dashboards for visibility into data processing.
