Amgen is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the AI & Data Innovation Lab. You will build scalable AI proofs‑of‑concepts, work with product managers and engineers to translate ambiguous needs into practical AI solutions, and design enterprise‑grade AI systems using LLMs and cloud‑native technologies.

You will rapidly assess feasibility, data readiness, and security considerations, while creating reusable architectures and patterns to scale successful POCs across teams.

Qualifications

• Doctorate level degree required.
• MS with 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• BS with 4 years of relevant experience.
• AS with 8 years of relevant experience.
• HS diploma/GED with 10 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable AI proofs‑of‑concepts aimed at enterprise scale.
• Partner with product managers, stakeholders, platform teams, and AI software engineers to translate needs into AI solutions with measurable value.
• Design and implement modern AI systems using LLMs, retrieval augmented generation, data pipelines, APIs, and cloud‑native services.
• Rapidly validate feasibility and value by assessing risk, data readiness, integration complexity, UX, security, performance, cost, and business impact.
• Create reusable assets such as reference architectures, components, and documentation to enable scaling of successful POCs.
• Raise engineering quality by modeling best practices, mentoring others, and ensuring ownership and accountability.
