Job summary

Hudbay Minerals U.S. Business Unit is seeking a Short-Term Planning Superintendent in Helvetia, AZ to lead mine planning, scheduling, and ore control. You will manage a team of planners and engineers, optimize plans for safety and efficiency, and support the Copper World project.

The role requires a strong background in open-pit mine engineering, 10+ years of experience, and a track record in leading planning activities within a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering is required.
• Post-graduate degree is a strong asset.
• Minimum 10 years in mine engineering for open-pit operations, with 3 years at a senior supervisory level.

Responsibilities

• Develop and schedule detailed daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans.
• Oversee ore control and stockpile management for production targets.
• Lead and develop a team of mine planners and engineers.
• Ensure plans are practical, economical, and compliant with standards.
• Manage the mine planning budget and resource allocation.
• Support Copper World Integrated project activities and milestones.
• Provide regular reporting to the Principal Engineer and management.
• Drive continuous improvement in planning processes and safety.
• Assess and mitigate risks for all tasks and activities.
• Ensure compliance with Hudbay’s Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
