Hudbay Minerals U.S. Business Unit is seeking a Short-Term Planning Superintendent in Helvetia, AZ to lead mine planning, scheduling, and ore control. You will manage a team of planners and engineers, optimize plans for safety and efficiency, and support the Copper World project.
The role requires a strong background in open-pit mine engineering, 10+ years of experience, and a track record in leading planning activities within a regulated environment.

Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, the Short-Term Planning Superintendent will play a crucial role in the project by performing a variety of complex engineering duties. These include mine design, mine operation planning, and the modification or adaptation of industry best practices. The role involves optimizing mine development and implementation strategies.
A Short-Term Planning Superintendent is a senior managerial role in the mining industry responsible for overseeing and optimizing mine planning and scheduling to ensure efficient and safe resource extraction, while also managing a team and adhering to mine regulations.
The Short-Term Planning Superintendent is responsible for instilling confidence in the mine planning by reviewing and analyzing existing data and the life-of-mine process. This role involves producing realistic detailed mine designs that enable the creation of mine short-term operating plans and schedules meeting strategic objectives established in the LOM planning and production systems.
