Job summary

Hudbay, a copper-focused mining company, is seeking a Mine Operations Superintendent for its Arizona Copper World project. You will lead open-pit mining, drive production targets, and manage budgets while upholding safety and regulatory compliance across shifts.

Reporting to the Mine Manager, you will coordinate with engineering, geology, maintenance and processing teams to optimize mine-to-mill productivity and ensure continuous improvement in fleet and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• 10–12 years in open-pit hard-rock mining operations (copper/gold/base metals preferred).
• 3–5 years in a senior leadership role (Shift Sup/Operations Sup).

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage department OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Direct day-to-day open-pit mining activities and sequences.
• Lead continuous improvement projects to optimise cycle times and fleet efficiency.
• Enforce MSHA and regulatory compliance; lead safety inspections and RCA.
• Coordinate with mine engineering, geology, maintenance, and processing leadership.
