Job summary

UW Health in Madison, Wisconsin is seeking a Senior Medical Lab Technician or Medical Technologist – Microbiology to perform a broad range of microbiology testing in a clinical laboratory. You will troubleshoot, maintain instrumentation, and demonstrate strong decision-making while teaching newer staff as needed.

The role emphasizes independent work, teamwork with physicians and clinic staff, and contribution to patient care quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum education as stated: associate degree or equivalent with required coursework.
• Preferred bachelor’s degree with 60 semester hours including medical lab courses.
• Certification/licensure in MLS/MLT or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing in clinical laboratories across varying complexity.
• Troubleshoot, maintain equipment, and resolve problems.
• Demonstrate decision-making, work independently, and teach/train as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, clinic staff and coworkers.
