Job summary

Boyd Corp is seeking a Metallurgy/Metal Joining Subject Matter Expert to serve as the technical authority on materials engineering and joining initiatives. You will define best practices, develop advanced welding procedures, and ensure our manufacturing processes produce durable, high-performance components.

This role will drive R&D and process optimization, mentor engineers and technicians, and ensure compliance with industry standards while collaborating with design and production teams to

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Welding Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in physical/metallurgy focusing on metal joining processes.
• Knowledge of phase transformations, residual stress, and ductile-to-brittle transition.
• Experience with Thermo-Calc, JMatPro and materials characterization tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead metal joining and welding initiatives across projects.
• Develop, qualify, and optimize fusion, solid-state, and brazing joining.
• Evaluate weld cycles, HAZ changes, and defects for integrity.
• Advise on filler metals, shielding gases, and PWHT.
• Oversee metallurgical lab operations and material testing.
• Mentor engineers and technicians on metallurgical best practices.
• Ensure compliance with ASME/AWS/API standards and regulations.
