Job summary

Boyd Corp is seeking a Welding Subject Matter Expert (SME) to be the technical authority on weld joint design, welding processes, and inspection. You will bridge engineering, quality, operations and suppliers to ensure code compliance and address metallurgical challenges.

In this role you will lead technical investigations, mentor the workforce, optimize welding sequences and tooling, and cooperate with Quality to develop welding procedures and qualification records under ASME and AWS codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; CWI certification preferred.
• AWS D1.6 (Structural Welding Code - Stainless Steel) and ASME IX familiarity.
• Strong understanding of stainless-steel metallurgy, heat control, distortion management, and post-weld finishing.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Serve as the go-to resource for welding inquiries and resolve metallurgical issues.
• Workforce Mentorship: Design and deliver advanced training programs and conduct skill assessments.
• Process Optimization: Recommend and implement improvements to welding sequences, fixtures, and tooling.
• Quality Assurance: Develop and manage Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) per industry codes.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce PPE use and uphold safety and ISO standards.
