Job summary

Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking a Welding Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead weld joint design, welding processes, qualification and inspection across stainless steel, copper and aluminum. The role bridges engineering, quality, operations and suppliers, driving continued improvements and compliant procedures for current and future R&D efforts.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 7–10+ years of TIG/GTAW welding experience, with up to 50% travel nationwide and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7-10+ years TIG/GTAW welding experience on stainless steel, copper and aluminum.
• Ability to travel 50% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Serve as the go-to resource for welding inquiries and resolve metallurgical issues.
• Workforce Mentorship: Design and deliver advanced training programs and assess skills to maintain standards.
• Recommend and implement improvements to welding sequences, fixtures, and tooling to maximize efficiency and reduce rework.
• Collaborate with Quality teams to develop and manage Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
• Champion safe handling of materials and gases, enforce PPE, and uphold safety and ISO standards.
