Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Metallurgical / Process Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership across its OCTG steel pipe manufacturing operations in South Texas. You will own metallurgical and mechanical testing, drive process improvements, and ensure conformance to API 5CT/5L and ASTM A370 while collaborating with operations on the mill floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 5–10 years of metallurgical, process, quality, or manufacturing engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with HFW/ERW pipe, OCTG, tubular, steel pipe manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of API 5CT and API 5L.
• Experience with SPC, process capability, failure analysis, and root‑cause solving.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead metallurgical and mechanical laboratory activities, including tensile, hardness, Charpy, flattening, hydrostatic, metallographic, and chemical testing.
• Provide metallurgical oversight of HFW pipe manufacturing and induction heat treatment.
• Establish and optimize mill, welding, heat-treatment, sizing, and finishing process parameters.
• Ensure materials and finished products meet API 5CT, API 5L, ASTM A370, and customer requirements.
• Conduct metallographic evaluations, failure analysis, defect investigation, and root‑cause analysis.
• Apply SPC and process capability to reduce variation and improve process performance.
• Drive improvements in yield, scrap, rework, and first-pass conformance.
• Support raw-material quality, supplier improvement, new‑grade/product qualification, and first‑article runs.
• Troubleshoot process and product issues directly with operations on the manufacturing floor.
• Develop technical procedures, work instructions, and support API, ISO, and customer audits.
