Job summary

Leoforce is seeking a Metallurgical / Process Engineer to own metallurgical testing and drive process improvements in OCTG steel pipe manufacturing. You will lead lab activities, oversee heat treatment, and optimize mill parameters on the shop floor.

The role requires 5–10 years in metallurgy or related engineering, API knowledge, and strong analytical skills. Relocation is considered for the right candidate and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 5–10 years of metallurgical, process, quality, or manufacturing engineering experience.
• Experience with HFW/ERW pipe, OCTG, tubular, steel pipe manufacturing preferred.
• Working knowledge of API 5CT and API 5L.
• Hands-on metallography, mechanical testing, and heat treatment.
• Experience with SPC, process capability, failure analysis, and root-cause analysis.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working hands-on on the manufacturing floor.
• Advanced Excel; AutoCAD and MATLAB are a plus.
• Willingness to travel and lift up to 60 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Lead metallurgical and mechanical laboratory activities (tensile, hardness, Charpy, etc.).
• Oversee HFW pipe manufacturing and induction heat treatment.
• Set and optimize process parameters for mill, welding, heat treating, sizing, and finishing.
• Ensure materials and finished products meet API 5CT/5L, ASTM A370, and customer specs.
• Conduct metallographic evaluations, failure analysis, defect investigations.
• Apply SPC and process capability to reduce variation and improve performance.
• Improve yield, scrap, rework, and first-pass conformance.
• Support raw-material quality and supplier improvements, first-article runs.
• Troubleshoot process issues on the factory floor.
• Develop procedures, work instructions, and audits for API, ISO, and customers.
