Job summary

O’Reilly Auto Parts seeks a Sr Systems Engineer Platform – Messaging Platform to design, implement, and maintain enterprise messaging systems across hybrid cloud and on‑prem environments.

You will work with architects, developers, and DevOps to standardize messaging patterns, ensure security, and promote modern integration practices aligned with the company’s digital transformation goals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise-grade messaging platforms including Kafka and Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
• Deep Kafka architecture knowledge: broker management, partitioning, replication, log retention, and consumer coordination.
• Experience with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and real-time data movement applications.
• Strong governance for topics/ACLs, and schema evolution using Confluent Schema Registry or Apicurio.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support scalable messaging platforms (Kafka, Pub/Sub, IBM MQ legacy).
• Build high-throughput, low-latency event pipelines for mission-critical workloads.
• Enforce schema governance and serialization formats (Avro, JSON, Protobuf).
• Standardize topic taxonomy and lifecycle management for topics/subscriptions.
• Automate deployment/configuration using Terraform, Helm, Ansible, and Kubernetes operators.
