Job summary

O’Reilly Auto Parts is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design and redesign broad technical infrastructure across servers, networks, and storage. This role documents current-state architecture, designs ideal-state architecture, and develops plans to deploy new solutions aligned with business needs.

It ensures stability and scalability with proactive capacity planning. The position is located in Springfield, MO and not open to remote work.

Qualifications

• Explain business requirements in terms of user goals.
• Document current vs. target architectures and changes.
• Assess readiness for change and develop transition plans.
• Implement security measures and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Design and select storage, data center, and client/server environments.
• Drive advances in technology architectures to increase value and reduce TCO.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture to maintain artifacts.
• Capture requirements via interviews, workshops, and analyses.
• Document current and to-be processes and migration changes.
• Evaluate external developments for potential impact and usefulness.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
• Implement security measures and monitor performance for issues.
• Maintain regulatory knowledge and ensure compliance.
• Lead technical developments to improve infrastructure quality.
• Participate in on-call support and knowledge base creation.
• Help onboard and train new team members.
