Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. in Maumee, OH is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical systems design for diverse projects, guiding a multidisciplinary team through concept to completion.

You will mentor early-career engineers, develop detailed design packages, and ensure constructible, code-compliant documents while collaborating across disciplines to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline is required.
• 7–12+ years of mechanical design experience in facilities, water/wastewater, pump stations, or industrial environments.
• PE license is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of piping, pumps, and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for facility and water/wastewater pump station projects.
• Develop mechanical design packages: plans, sections, details, P&IDs, specs.
• Perform pump and pipe-flow calculations and equipment sizing.
• Design heat trace systems, insulation, and freeze-protection.
• Evaluate mechanical equipment and supports.
• Participate in design reviews and quality checks.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
