Senior MEP Engineer for Mission-Critical Projects

Job summary

Thor is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to support mission-critical projects across data centers, healthcare, and large commercial environments. You will lead mechanical, electrical, and field engineering efforts from system analysis through commissioning, ensuring alignment with budgets, schedules, and quality.

You will develop complex M/E construction activities, manage budgets, review design documents, and mentor junior engineers while driving handover and commissioning

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in construction or engineering, preferably with a general contractor.
• Strong background in HVAC systems and large commercial or mission-critical projects.
• PE license preferred but not required.
• Healthcare or data center project experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and MEP systems.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Proficient in MS Office and construction management tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
• Prepare and manage M/E budget estimates based on program and schematic design information.
• Evaluate mechanical and electrical system options, providing value engineering recommendations.
• Coordinate M/E scopes of work throughout the bid process and support subcontractor selection.
• Develop sequencing plans for major systems and contribute scheduling input throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review design documents for potential quality and constructability issues, proposing proactive solutions.
• Conduct jobsite inspections to verify quality, safety, and compliance.
• Lead and participate in the commissioning process, including functional testing and system validation.
• Review and approve shop drawings and submittals to ensure accuracy and adherence to contract documents.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements and engineering tools.
