Job summary

RTI Health Solutions, a subsidiary of RTI International, is seeking a Senior Medical Writer to join the Medical Communications and Strategy team in the United States. You will lead publication planning, mentor junior writers, and engage with clients to shape scientific communications across therapeutic areas.

The role requires 5+ years in medical writing, leadership experience, and strong writing skills, with the ability to present ideas in pitch meetings and manage multiple projects to deadline.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional medical writing experience.
• At least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
• Ability to mentor junior writers and guide complex tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead publication planning and development with internal teams and external authors.
• Interpret results and supporting data for scientific and non-scientific audiences.
• Manage publication workflows from concept to submission with coordination and quality control.
• Ensure adherence to ethical standards (ICMJE, GPP) and journal/conference requirements.
• Oversee multiple timelines and budgets while maintaining client relationships.
• Mentor and support junior writers to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery.
• Engage with clients for proposals and new publication opportunities.
• Shape scientific communication strategies for new business and pitches.
