Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests.

You report to the Center Manager and work under Center Physician guidance for medical issues. Requirements include state licensure as EMT-B/A/I/P, LPN/LVN or RN, CPR/AED certification, basic IV therapy, and FDA BioLife training, with at least

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with nursing program.
• State licensure as EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, or EMT-P, LPN/LVN or RN.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies and assist Center Physician with standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and decide if occupational health/ER evaluation is needed; follow EHS guidance.
• Potential to serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
