Job summary

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II at Mass General Brigham performs testing per CLIA standards, with supervision as needed, and may supervise laboratory operations and personnel. Responsibilities include QA/QC, training, and inventory management to ensure accurate results used for patient care.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or medical technology, ASCP-BOC certification, and 4 years of lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is required.
• ASCP-BOC certification (MLT/MT/MLA/Histologists) is required.
• 4 years of laboratory experience required.
• Advanced understanding of laboratory equipment and analytic techniques.
• Ability to work independently and pay close attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Follow procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting and record-keeping.
• Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing consistency with patient samples.
• Adhere to quality control policies and document calibrations and maintenance.
• Follow corrective actions for test systems outside performance standards.
• Identify issues affecting test results and notify supervisors as needed.
• Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from specs.
