Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado is seeking a Senior Medical Interpreter to provide advanced interpretation and translation services across clinical settings. The role includes mentoring less experienced interpreters and supporting quality standards through training and best practices.

The successful candidate will translate medical and non-medical documents, document interpretation activity in the EMR, and collaborate with leadership to enhance language access programs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of translation/interpretation experience.
• BTG Medical Interpreter certification or equivalent required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides interpretation in clinical and non-clinical settings for patients, families, providers, and staff.
• Translates medical and non-medical documents, including discharge instructions and education materials.
• Mentors less experienced interpreters and models best practices in interpretation and translation.
• Supports onboarding and evaluation of new interpreters with skill assessments and development plans.
• Collaborates with leadership to enhance training curricula and language access workflows.
• Participates in initiatives to improve interpreter services and align with organizational goals.
• Maintains terminology proficiency and ensures adherence to standards.
• Uses EMR to document interpretation activity, track data, and train junior staff on EMR use.
