Intuitive, a leader in robotic-assisted surgery, seeks a Sr. New Product Development Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA, to drive mechanical design for next-generation Endoluminal instruments and steerable catheters interfacing with a robotic system.

You will lead cross-functional design efforts, develop prototypes, and ensure quality through rigorous design controls and manufacturing readiness, mentoring junior engineers along the way.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a mechanical design or catheter design role.
• Proficiency using CAD to create, fabricate, and document medical device designs.
• Experience with a range of prototyping and fabrication methods, including 3D printing, extrusion, injection molding, machining, wire EDM, welding, etc.
• Proven ability to apply engineering first principles to understand and solve problems.
• Exceptional mechanical aptitude and analytical thinking.

Responsabilités

• Lead design, development, and testing of components and sub-systems for Endoluminal instruments, steerable catheter-based devices, and accessories interfacing with a robotic system.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to meet customer and company needs.
• Prototype and refine designs through the product development process to commercialization.
• Prepare detailed drawings, tolerance analyses, and design verification plans.
• Drive design risk analyses, failure investigations, and design-for-manufacturing practices.
• Mentor technicians and junior engineers.
