Job summary

Intuitive is seeking a hands-on Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver complex mechanical designs for next‑generation robotic surgical instruments. You will contribute across the lifecycle from concept to validation, developing high‑precision mechanisms and electromechanical systems while collaborating with software, electrical, clinical, and manufacturing teams.

The role requires strong fundamentals, problem‑solving, and the ability to iterate prototypes rapidly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
• 6+ years designing mechanical engineering products or related experience (medical devices preferred).
• Expertise in high‑precision mechanisms, electromechanical systems, and tight tolerances.
• Experience driving new products from concept to launch in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical systems for robotic surgical instruments.
• Translate user requirements into robust design solutions through prototyping and testing.
• Generate specs, risk analyses, and verification plans to ensure safety and performance.
• Create and maintain manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and documentation in SolidWorks.
• Lead design reviews, document results, and mentor junior engineers.
