Job summary

Intuitive Surgical is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, validate and improve robotic laparoscopic instruments and assemblies. You will drive architecture development, perform simulations, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to meet clinical needs with high reliability.

The role requires strong CAD skills (SolidWorks), Matlab and FEA experience, plus familiarity with FDA design controls and DoEs.

Qualifications

• BSME with 8+ years of experience, MSME 6 years or PhD 3 years preferred.
• Experience with design, debugging, verification, qualification and transfer of product designs.
• Experience with medical device environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and document components and assemblies for robotic instruments.
• Miniaturization and DFMEA of designs.
• Develop automated tests and scripts (Matlab) for design validation.
• Collaborate with suppliers for high-volume manufacturing.
• Create design history files per FDA requirements and support New Product Introduction.
