Job summary

3500 Square is seeking a Medical Coder III for remote work supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA) with outpatient and ED coding expertise. You will assign CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM and modifiers for outpatient encounters and ER visits, with potential inpatient work as needed.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years in outpatient/ED coding, a relevant degree or certificate, and professional certification such as CPC/RHIT/CCS-P with related E/M knowledge. U.S. citizenship required for DHA eligibility.

Qualifications

• Education in health information management or related field plus coding certification.
• Experience with outpatient and ED coding preferred.
• Active professional coding certification required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10-CM for outpatient/ED encounters.
• Review documentation for procedures, clinics, same-day surgeries, ER visits.
• Ensure coding accuracy and resolve documentation discrepancies.
• Collaborate with providers and staff to support education and compliance.
• Research DHA/DoD coding guidance as needed.
