Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• 5 years in Hospital Coding.
• 1 year in Trauma hospital coding.
• CCS or CIC certification.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.
• Ability to work with health care team.

Responsibilities

• Review and assign ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract data elements for statistical requests and enter into systems.
• Manage unbilled coding reports to improve cash flow.
• Stay updated on ICD guideline changes and training.
• Serve as mentor and subject matter expert.
• Participate in process improvement with coding team and management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
