Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an experienced medical coder to perform comprehensive record reviews and assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures. You will abstract data for statistical requests and ensure timely entry into the coding system.

The role requires extensive coding experience across specialties, familiarity with trauma/teaching/observation guidelines, and ongoing training to stay current with guidelines. Strong collaboration with care teams is essential.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• 5 years hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding across all specialties.
• Strong knowledge of Trauma/Teaching/Observation guidelines.
• Completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Professional certifications such as CCS/RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P/CPC/COC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical information to assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes.
• Abstract data elements for statistical requests and enter into the system.
• Support cash flow management related to unbilled coding reports.
• Keep up to date with ICD-10-CM/CPT guideline changes and training.
• Mentor teammates as a subject matter expert.
