Job summary

AAPC is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to accurately code acute care procedures and diagnoses in collaboration with billing teams. You will apply ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and Encoder codes, ensuring compliance with industry guidelines and payer requirements.

The role involves mentoring junior coders, reviewing ED and outpatient records, and staying current with coding guidelines and 3M/HDS tools to support accurate reimbursement.

Qualifications

• CCS certification and proficiency with 3M/HDS coding software.
• At least three years of clinical coding experience in acute care, outpatient, or ED settings.
• Strong skills in MS Word, Excel and coding applications.

Responsibilities

• Assign and verify ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and Encoder codes based on clinical documentation.
• Research and resolve coding issues to support accurate billing and reimbursement.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior coders to improve coding accuracy and efficiency.
• Maintain knowledge of payor and federal billing guidelines to ensure compliance.
• Utilize 3M/HDS coding applications for coding tasks.
• Review outpatient and ED records to ensure proper code assignment.
