Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert clinical support under the supervision of a Physician and/or RN. The role includes assisting with examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, and dressing changes, while maintaining CLIA/HIPAA/NCQA standards.

The Sr. MA may also schedule appointments, ensure medical necessity, verify eligibility, and serve as a preceptor and clinical resource to Medical Assistants, fostering training and orientation as

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA/NAHP/NCCT/NHA) or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes.
• Perform delegated medical assistant tasks under physician or RN supervision.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care as needed.
• Train and orient other Medical Assistants as a preceptor and clinical resource.
