Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert clinical support under physician or nurse supervision. The role includes assisting with examinations, procedures, and dressing changes, maintaining high standards of care and EMR documentation.

The Sr. MA also handles scheduling, eligibility verification, and acts as a preceptor/clinical resource for Medical Assistants, training peers as needed to uphold quality patient care.”

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT. NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care as needed.
• Provide preceptor and clinical resource support to Medical Assistants; train and orient staff.
