Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to perform advanced medical assistant tasks under physician or nurse supervision, assisting with examinations, procedures, and treatments for assigned patient populations.

The role may schedule appointments, ensure medical necessity, verify eligibility, and serve as a preceptor and clinical resource for Medical Assistants. Strong communication and adherence to standards are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent education.
• Five years of medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Role models and promotes a positive work environment within the interprofessional care team.
• Collaborates with all members of the interprofessional health care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information.
• Independently executes the duties of preceptor, serves as a clinical resource for MA staff, mentoring colleagues.
