Qualifications

Overview

Role Purpose

This position provides support to the clinical care team under the direction of the nursing staff. Duties include supporting outpatient visits through tasks according to practice protocols and procedures. The Sr. Medical Assistant is also involved in quality assurance processes and onboarding new staff.

Responsibilities
  • Supports outpatient encounters with knowledge of patient flow, including scheduling appointments, tests, lab work, insurance processes, and resource coordination such as durable medical equipment.
  • Assists, as trained, in outpatient procedural visits, including setting up instruments, labeling specimens, and chaperoning patient exams.
  • Performs clinical skills like point of care testing and EKGs, obtains patient information including vital signs and histories, and maintains accurate documentation in the medical record. Communicates important information to the healthcare team promptly.
  • Participates in auditing patient care processes and collaborates with nursing leadership on workflow improvement projects.
  • Involved in onboarding and training new medical assistants and supports leadership in coaching other assistants.
