Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Project Engineer III - Mechanical to join our Engineering & Design team in Portland, OR. This role focuses on DBOM project delivery, integrating design with operation considerations to achieve high-performance buildings.

Responsibilities include mechanical design calculations, development of construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit, and coordination across internal teams and with clients. Requires engineering degree and EIT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required or equivalent work experience.
• Five (5) years of experience in 2D/3D AutoCAD and Revit modeling preferred.
• Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python and structural analysis software (Bentley platform, RISA or SAP 2000) preferred.
• Five (5) years of experience in engineering design or related field preferred; onsite construction experience welcome.
• Microsoft Office Suite including Teams required.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Engineering in Training Certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
• Follows McKinstry Engineering standards and procedures.
• Contributes to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently.
• Manages team’s workload to deliver assigned tasks on time and in the budget.
• Provides engineering analysis to support sales and early design efforts.
• Defines, communicates, and manages scope, design intent, and design process for direct supervisor review.
