Job summary

McKinstry in Austin, TX seeks a Project Engineer III - Mechanical to join the Engineering & Design team. You will blend innovative problem-solving with practical design for high-performance buildings throughout their life cycle.

This role emphasizes DBOM, energy efficiency, occupant comfort and safety while reducing operating costs. Responsibilities include managing tasks across multiple projects, producing design drawings, and coordinating with team members to meet deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required or equivalent experience.
• Five years of 2D/3D AutoCAD and Revit modeling experience preferred.
• Experience with MATLAB, VBA, Python and structural analysis software is preferred.
• Onsite construction experience is welcome.
• Engineering in Training Certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
• Supports design tasks and early design effort with engineering analysis.
• Defines, communicates, and manages scope and design intent for supervisor review.
• Coordinates with internal and external team members; maintains design quality.
• Ensures design meets performance, energy, and cost targets.
