Job summary

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer - HVAC/Building Systems to lead multi‑project efforts across healthcare, commercial, industrial, government, and education facilities. You will guide HVAC and mechanical design from concept through construction, coordinating with architects, engineers and contractors to deliver integrated documents.

You will mentor junior staff, oversee QA/QC, and help manage schedules and budgets while ensuring compliance with codes and industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• PE license required.
• 8–12+ years of progressive mechanical engineering/building systems experience.
• Experience leading mechanical design on building projects.
• Strong HVAC, plumbing, hydronic, ventilation knowledge.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office; familiarity with HVAC tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for building systems from concept to construction documents and construction support.
• Develop HVAC, plumbing, controls, and specialty piping designs.
• Coordinate with architects, structural/electrical engineers, and contractors to produce integrated documents.
• Prepare calculations, equipment selections, drawings, narratives, and specs.
• Ensure compliance with codes and standards; provide QA/QC oversight.
• Provide field support through site observations and construction administration.
• Manage multiple projects’ schedules, budgets, and deliverables; mentor junior staff.
