Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors in Pasadena, TX seeks a senior lead designer to supervise a team of designers and deliver mechanical and piping projects on time and within budget. The role requires extensive experience and the ability to guide design quality.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, coordinating with discipline leads, producing installation specifications, and participating in design reviews to ensure compliance with codes and client specs.

Qualifications

• Requires 15+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical/piping drafting and design.
• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.
• SPED Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a design team to deliver mechanical and piping deliverables on time and within budget.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced drafters in the department.
• Coordinate work activities with staff and discipline leads.
• Produce mechanical and piping installation specifications with review and approval.
• Mentor subordinates and lead design staff to meet scope, schedule and budget.
• Participate in squad checks to insure coordination between design disciplines.
• Check calculations for accuracy and conformance to codes and standards.
• Estimate construction quantities and costs for projects.
• Develop installation specifications and schedules for piping systems.
• Draft P&IDs and GA drawings and interface with vendor drawings.
