Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a hands-on Technician for our Van Horn, TX site to operate and maintain complex test facilities, perform preventive/corrective maintenance, and support test readiness activities. You will work with engineers to implement design changes and ensure safe, reliable test operations in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have 3+ years in industrial/test environments or 2+ years with relevant technical training, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work flexible

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years hands-on experience in industrial facilities, test operations, aerospace/aviation maintenance, or similar high-consequence environments.
• OR 2+ years with completion of technical trade school or associate degree in related field.
• Experience with fluid/pneumatic or propellant-like systems and basic Troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with common mechanical tools and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Willingness to work around heavy equipment and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Commitment to safety, with ability to work overtime and various shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate test facility systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, propellant distribution) under procedures.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on valves, piping, pumps, regulators, actuators.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair facility components to maintain readiness.
• Update maintenance records, logs, and docs accurately.
• Assist in installation, alignment, and removal of test articles and fixtures.
• Support connections between test articles and facility systems.
• Participate in test readiness activities (leak checks, functional, inspections).
• Collaborate with engineers to implement design changes to stands and support systems.
• Install/calibrate/test instrumentation (pressure transducers, thermocouples, flow meters).
• Assist with sensor wiring and basic electrical diagnostics.
• Support data acquisition systems per engineering instructions.
• Layout, fabrication, and installation of piping and test fixtures.
• Perform basic machining and fabrication tasks; assist welding activities as needed.
• Read drawings and ensure correct build; follow safety and quality controls.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of procedures and workflows.
