Job summary

Engineering Systems, Inc. (ESi) seeks an experienced senior mechanical engineering consultant to lead forensic investigations and multidisciplinary projects across mechanical systems and machinery.

You will conduct field investigations, perform advanced analyses (stress, fatigue, failure), author reports, and provide expert testimony while mentoring junior staff and helping grow the client base. Willingness to travel nationally is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree or Ph.D. strongly preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates complex forensic investigations and multidisciplinary projects related to mechanical engineering failures, product liability, and personal injury matters.
• Conducts and supervises field investigations of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.
• Performs advanced engineering analysis using mechanics principles including stress analysis, failure analysis, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and dynamic loading.
• Authors high-quality technical reports and expert opinions; reviews and oversees reports prepared by junior consultants.
• Provides expert testimony at deposition and trial.
• Conducts well-developed and well-prepared client presentations.
• Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for assignment of project personnel.
• Directs and coordinates projects and teams within prescribed schedule and budget scopes.
• Works with Business Development to identify potential clients and strategies to build client base.
• Actively participates in Business Development activities, including client meetings, presentations, and appropriate conferences.
• Mentors consultants and senior consultants in technical and professional development.
• Actively seeks to develop professionally in skills, experience, and industry reputation.
