Job summary

Engineering Systems, Inc. (ESi) in Illinois is seeking a senior mechanical engineering consultant with 15+ years of experience in forensic investigation, failure analysis, and design. You will lead complex multidisciplinary projects, supervise junior staff, and prepare expert reports and testimony for litigations.

Proficiency in ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation is desired, with PE licensure required. Occasional travel to client sites across the national practice is expected, as ESi supports a

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Master's degree or Ph.D. strongly preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
• 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering consulting, design, or forensic investigation.
• Experience providing expert testimony highly desirable; established client relationships and book of business strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates complex forensic investigations and multidisciplinary projects related to mechanical engineering failures, product liability, and personal injury matters.
• Conducts and supervises field investigations of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.
• Performs advanced engineering analysis using mechanics principles including stress analysis, failure analysis, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and dynamic loading.
• Authors high-quality technical reports and expert opinions; reviews and oversees reports prepared by junior consultants.
• Provides expert testimony at deposition and trial.
• Conducts well-developed and well-prepared client presentations.
• Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for assignment of project personnel.
• Directs and coordinates projects and teams within prescribed schedule and budget scopes.
• Works with Business Development to identify potential clients and strategies to build client base.
• Actively participates in Business Development activities, including client meetings, presentations, and appropriate conferences.
• Mentors consultants and senior consultants in technical and professional development.
• Actively seeks to develop professionally in skills, experience, and industry reputation.
